چکیده

Abstract The influence of sinusoidal density modulation on stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) reflectivity in inhomogeneous plasmas is studied using three-wave coupling equations, fully kinetic Vlasov simulations, and particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations. Through a numerical solution the we find that capable inducing absolute SRS even though Rosenbluth gain smaller than π , describe region modulational wavelength amplitude which can be induced, agrees with earlier studies. average obtained by simulations has same trend as growth rate from equations. Instead causing instability, shorter basic length suppress inflation through harmonic waves. In addition, PIC qualitatively agree our Our results offer an alternative explanation for high experimental underdense plasmas, due to long-wavelength modulation, potential method short-wavelength modulation.

Mitigation of Stimulated Raman Scattering in Hohlraum Plasmas

One aspect of recent research to control Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) in hohlraum plasmas is the investigation of risk mitigation strategies for indirect drive inertial confinement fusion. Experimental tests of these strategies, based on prior theoretical and experimental knowledge of SRS, are performed in hohlraum experiments. In the last year, two strategies have been investigated. The f...

Spatially autoresonant stimulated Raman scattering in nonuniform plasmas

New solutions to the coupled three-wave equations in a nonuniform plasma medium are presented that include both space and time dependence of the waves. By including the dominant nonlinear frequency shift of the material wave, it is shown that if the driving waves are sufficiently strong in relation to the medium gradient , a nonlinearly phase-locked solution develops that is characteristic of a...

Stimulated Raman and Brillouin Scattering Processes in Centrosymmetric Semiconductor Plasmas

A simple analytical treatment based on the hydrodynamical model of plasmas is developed to study both steady-state and transient stimulated Raman and Brillouin scattering processes in centrosymmetric or weakly noncentrosymmetric semiconductors. Gain constants, threshold-pump intensities, and optimum pulse durations for the onset of Raman and Brillouin instabilities are estimated. The qualitativ...

Investigation of Scalar Modulation Instability in the Presence of Raman Scattering in Photonic Crystal Fibers

In this paper, by including Raman scattering in the coupled-mode equations, the scalar modulation instability in photonic crystal fibers is investigated. The evolution of the pump, Stokes and anti-Stokes waves along the fiber as well as the conversion efficiency for two cases, with and without Raman effect, are studied. The effect of anti-Stokes seed and the pump depletion on the evolution of S...

Sideward Stimulated Raman Scattering

The SRS of a short laser pulse is important in the contexts of particle acceleration2 and inertial confinement fusion.3,4 In previous studies of the spatiotemporal evolution of SRS,5–13 the Stokes waves were allowed to pass freely through the pulse boundaries. However, the radial ponderomotive force associated with the pulse can expel plasma from the neighborhood of the pulse axis, in which cas...
